An open letter to politicians and senior bureaucrats:
Are your procurement dollars working for or against your local industry?
Local industry in Canada and the US is hurting. The global recession has slowed demand and investment. To make matters worse, foreign governments are erecting trade barriers.
Directing construction contracts to local suppliers is not enough. More can be done. After all, local government does much more than local construction.
