Are your procurement dollars working for or against your local industry?
PPI Consulting - 6/15/2009
An open letter to politicians and senior bureaucrats:

Are your procurement dollars working for or against your local industry?

Local industry in Canada and the US is hurting. The global recession has slowed demand and investment. To make matters worse, foreign governments are erecting trade barriers.

Directing construction contracts to local suppliers is not enough. More can be done. After all, local government does much more than local construction.

If you're considering a procurement in any of the following categories (for example), you should be thinking about the role of your local industry:
  • Infrastructure design-build projects
  • Technology related projects
  • Health and social services projects
  • Emergency services projects
  • Transportation and fleet projects
  • Waste services projects
PPI Consulting can help you design your procurement project to benefit local industry. Since 1989, we've helped the public sector on more than 500 procurement projects. To learn more about our capabilities, visit PPI Procurement Consulting.
